I'm having trouble with my MFC Brother 9340 color printer. For the last 2 weeks, everytime I put through standard copier paper, the top left quadrant of the paper comes our "bubbled". I'm not sure if it's from the fuser, or if a wheel is warped, but it needs to be fixed. Can you help to diagnose this problem.

1. Blurred or Smeared Print – The coating on the rollers have been falling apart on these fusing assemblies. This can lead to smeared or blurred print as the paper feeds through the fuser. Heat and pressure bond the toner to the paper in the fuser. If the outer coating is coming apart then you will have parts of the print that is not getting properly fused and will lead to blurred or smeared print.
2. Creased or wrinkled paper – Just like above, the outer coating of the rollers are coming apart. When this happens you will get creases in the paper as it gets pressed together unevenly. Also, customers will say the paper is wrinkled, indented, or embossed.
3. When I’ve seen this happen it has been pretty easy to troubleshoot. You open the back door and the fusing assembly is right there. If the coating of the rollers is coming off it is pretty easy to see as the roller coating is missing from the rollers and is found throughout the back of the machine near the fusing assembly.

I had the same issue. Mine had odd, sharp edged bubbles/indentations that I could’’t figure out. It’s the fuser roller in the back of the machine, about $15, but a bit of a pain to replace. When I got the roller out, the coating was bumpy - the aluminum roller underneath the coating had become damaged (by the heat? oxidation?) If you are a handy person, there are directions online.

I am having a similar problem in that my brother MFCL2740DW keeps hitting something which folds the top of the paper in duplex mode. Have taken it apart at the back, cleaned everything with Iso , checked everything . I set the paper thickness to thick and it still does it. It might be the fuser roller assisted by Dan. Its an old machined I'm using the cheaper TN66 Toners. Probably not an easy answer, but a process of elimination.
