My computer turns on but still has a black screen and...

When I turn my computer on it begins to restart and then the blue screen of death pops up quickly. It then says "Preparing Automatic Repair" and goes to a black screen with my mouse still appearing on the screen. What should I do?

P.S. I did drop my computer before this started happening, but it wasn't a very far drop.

Try removing the battery and the power supply then with no power at all hold down the power button for 60 seconds after that put the battery in and plug it in and try to boot it if this brings no Joy try removing the ram then put one dimm back in and try booting . Once again if theres no joy I fear you may have lost your boot sector which most likely means the hard drive was damaged in the fall. If this is the case you may want to remove the hard drive and see if it can be read from an external case to see if any data can be rescued from it . You can also scan the drive with Hard Disc Sentinel this program has a free part that can be used to determine if the drive has too much damage to continue using. Hope this helps

Sounds like a hardware fault causing the computer to stop.

It maybe the hard drive, inside the hard drive there are 2 to 4 metal disc's that have your data stored on them these discs spin at a incredible speed the whole time the computer is turned on, when the laptop is bumped on dropped these discs can take a realy bad battering and can sometimes cause them to break or damage.

I would try starting the laptop with nothing plug in, no keyboard not mouse no usb drives, just incase it is one of them causing the issue, if it still plays up then how confident do you feel replacing laptop components.

If all else fails maybe a pc repair shop can help.

I actually didn't have anything plugged the computer the multiple times I tried starting it up. Sadly, I'm not very good at fixing anything and the only skill I have is pressing buttons, but thanks for the help!
