What is wrong with my MacBook Pro?
I've recently acquired a late 2011 Macbook Pro from a friend who stated it was broken originally due to the track pad going out. He attempted to fix it on his own, but made a mistake. (Severed the track pad ribbon cable, oops!) and since apple wanted to charge him over $1k to fix it because they stated they found signs of liquid in the case, he just bought a new one instead. With that said, I charged it up when I first got it, and turned it on, yet all that happened was the sleep light blinked in a succession of 3's, matched with 3 beeps, as well as the back of the computer in between the hinges became quite hot. Screen didn't come on, keyboard didn't light up, apple logo didn't light up. Now, I've opened it up and checked it out, and from what I can see, yes, the track pad ribbon cable was cut. I've bought a whole replacement track pad, and now looking at the logic board, it appears he somehow broke off the ZIF socket entirely, however the keyboard ribbon cable appears undamaged. From what I know, this will require me to replace the logic board as well. I am new to Macbook's, and I'm just wondering if there's any other possible issue I might need to look out for? I'm ordering the logic board Friday, so I want to make sure I'm going in the right direction of repairing this wonderful machine.
