Why can I not view my son's pictures on my computer?

I tried several cables that did not work, including what I thought was the cable that came with the Kidizoom (it may not have been) before I read a post that said to use the cable from my Amazon Firestick. After plugging that in, the computer registered that it was connected to the camera, and on the camera it asked if I wanted to go into Camera Connection Mode, I accepted and then everything worked fine, i.e., it showed up in File Manager.
