Repair information for the Siemens Gigaset S810 (with and without answering machine)

4回答 すべてを表示

Why does my phone 810/A cut out after around 10 minutes talking?

I've checked the battery status and it shows 34-66% (p19 of Op Guide). How to fix the p0roblem. It affects two of my four phones.

Hi,

Have you checked that the batteries are as specified, NiMH 1.2V 550-1000mAH and are the same for all four phones?

Have you swapped the phones between bases and cradles to see if it is a power adapter problem?

Have you tried swapping the two batteries from a 34-66% phone with the two batteries from a phone where I assume that they charge to 100%?

If they charge fully in the other phone and the other batteries only go to 34-66% in the first phone, then there is something wrong with the charging circuit or the charge display information (see Note below) in the first phone.

If they do not charge beyond 34-66% in the second phone (and the other batteries fully charge in the first phone), then either one or both of the batteries are faulty.

Do the same for the other phone that is having the same charging problem.

Note: If it is a phone battery charging / charge display information problem, I'm wondering if the two phones that are having the battery charging problem have the same firmware version installed as the two phones that do not have the problem? I cannot find where this information is stored in the phone, as the User Guide only describes how to update the firmware. If you cannot find it either maybe you could connect one to a PC, as described in the Guide and see if there is an update available for it. Try it also for one of the phones that charges properly. If they are different maybe a firmware update will solve the problem. Unless of course the problem phones have a later update as compared to the working phones. Then you should contact the manufacturer's support section for advice.

If the tests point to the problem being in the phone and the firmware is the same for all phones then it most probably is a battery charging circuit problem in the phone. I suggest that you check the warranty period and if still valid contact the manufacturer's customer support section regarding a warranty repair or replacement. (Even if out of warranty, if all four phones are the same model, firmware version and age I would contact them anyway and ask what could be wrong).

This is just generic troubleshooting methodology - the real fix is Michael Fritzsche's suggestion below which fixed two of my S810 phones.

Simple solution for my Gigaset 810 battery problems:

  • remove battery (wait a moment)
  • insert battery
  • don't place it on the charger station
  • unload and wait for the acoustic battery warning
  • now place the phone on the charger
  • wait until it is full loaded
  • if this doesn't work than buy new batteries and try again

If the batteries are placed in the phone and the phone is placed at the charger, than the phone starts to load the battery and measure the capacity. If the batteries was not empty, a wrong capacity is calculated and the phone will shut down to early if used later.

It doesn't help to try to unload the phone by simple move from charger. In this case a previous wrong calculated capacity will cause an early shut down only. It seems to be a temporary remove helps to reset the phone.

My experience:

I bought new batteries (seems to be preloaded), insert them and turned the phone on. I don't placed it at the charger. A red empty battery symbol was shown. It need several hours to unload. Than I placed it at the charger and now the phone works like new. :)

Discharging the batteries before placing them in the phone accelerates the process. My standard charger offers the option to discharge. I had to be patient when the phone began to charge the completely empty batteries. It took almost 30 minutes until some charging progress became visible in capacity indicator of my 610H.

This fixed two of my S810 phones - both had the same problem as the OP. I deliberately drained four batteries and then put them in the phones and put the phones on the charger. I think it's important to leave them alone like that until they are fully charged. This is how the phone's tiny brain works out the battery capacity and it uses this to indicate the remaining charge and remaining use time. Never put fully charged batteries in the phone and plonk it on the charger, the stupid thing will calculate that the batteries can't take any charge and conclude the remaining useage time is a few seconds. The handset may shut off almost immediately when you try to use it.

I have the same issue with two Gigaset phones. (810s and 79h)

The batteries have been changed and it is always the same behaviour. The phones get charged over night (at least it seems so); the batteries show a 'full' sign. If I use the phone it takes a couple of minutes and it switches off (sometimes immediatly). Putting it back in the craddle it starts charging für 24 hours or so; then the same thing again.

I put the batteries on an external charger and fully charge and it does the same.

I swap the craddles and it is the same.

I swapped at least 5 different kind of batteries and always the same.

I use normal 1,5V Batteries and all seems working fine then. In my opinion, the phone does not operate well with 1,3V akkus.

I discard them now and buy another brand.
