external speaker person I am calling cannot hear

Iphone 4s 16gb when in the speaker mode, I can hear the person that I called, but they cannot hear me. Any advice on this issue? Thanks

The microphone has failed. Try to record a voice memo. If there is no sound the top microphone has failed. It's not the bottom mic on the charge port.
