Replaced the screen on my iPhone 5s. Now the home button is very much sunken in and is uncomfortable/difficult to press. Still works and finger print scanner works... just sunken and difficult to push down.
I ensured that the cover was on propperly and the screen were in tight. I even un-stuck the gasket and reseated it.
Do I need to try buying a new gasket to get that stickyness back?

Are you sure the cover for the home button is aligned correctly? Also being the tightest doesn't always make it the best feeling, at least from my experience.

My God... I was so sure of myself. But you were correct. I placed it in backwards. As you can read in the above comment, I'm hesitant still to put it back together because I'm not sure my home button has a "spacer" on it that Soren is talking about. Maybe I lost it? Or maybe it's there and I don't even know I'm looking at it haha.

I didn't even think of the possibility of the bracket beeing turned 180 deg. Just turn it arround and put it back together and test it. Some unoriginal home buttons does not have this metal spacer, but a plastic equivalent.
It's a common mistake :) easy to flip around and not notice.

Usually the iPhone 5 and 6 is not as prone to sunk home buttons, as the iPhone 4 were, due to the way the home button is attached to the screen on the iPhone 5.
Replacing the rubber gasket will not do anything to the way the home button seats. The gasket is only there to ensure that not too much dirt gets into the phone through the home button.
Seeing as you say that the button has become difficult to press too, I would expect that the small metal spacer has fallen off - see picture below:
If ou look at the center of the button, there is a small circular metal spacer which needs to be there, for the button to function properly. If you have replaced the plastic part of the home button with a second-hand part, this might be missing or it might simply have fallen off.
If you do not want to but another button, you can try and make a small spacer yourself, of any material and gluing it to the back of the home button using superglue. This if of course not the ideal solution, but it is possible to make it work.

Actually, as dumb as I feel admitting it... Jake was right in his assessment that I placed the metal plate/bracket on top of it on the wrong way. However, I do not see the metal spacer you are referring to. Even in your pictures I'm not really sure what part is the spacer. Mine looks quite a bit different. I'm hesitant to put it back together AGAIN until I know that this spacer is in there :s
Turns out it was the bracket/cover that I had stupidly placed in upside down (followed a guide on Youtube and the guy put his in upside down at the end so I just followed suit blindly haha) Thanks so very much for the fast reply man!
No need to worry about the spacer - if the button works, it works. Some home buttons does not have this metal spacer.
