Galaxy S4 dropped in tub

I got a phone from a friend who dropped in tub. She shut it down right away and took it apart to dry it out. She gave it to me to look at and I could tell right away she would need a screen replacement because there was a crack in screen and no picture. The phone would boot up because it had all the sounds. I took it apart and cleaned entire logic board with 91% alcohol and using a soft brush. I put a new screen on it and I got display, sound, and everything else except the touch capability. I have a microscope and all components look good as well as connector and pins. The only think I have not tried is replacing the battery because the battery looks really good and I tested with multimeter and all is good. Could the issue still be the battery????? Any other ideas besides a bad screen? I got the screen from a reputable company.

CluelessInSeattle is your phone a I9505 or a I9500?

CluelessInSeattle the touch is most likely not related to the battery. You still want to replace it since it will fail.

Since you replaced it with reputable parts and you are making the assumption those are working, You do want to check a few of the components on the circuit board. Check the connector to ensure that there is no corrosion and/or bend, broken pins etc.

The attached flowchart is for the i9505 S4 so if yours is different let us know. Post some images of your board with your question so we can help you to properly identify it.

Try going into service mode and test the touch function and also calibrate the gyroscopes. I included the steps for going into service mode it says for S5 but works for all Galaxy models.

gillrios, great information. How can you access the service mode without a touch screen?

Yeah, that's what I was afraid you say, have you tried resetting the LCD connector to see if that would bring some kind of function back enough to get into service mode.

that would get you back to the same flow chart as in my prior answer:-)

The Carrier is T-Mobile. I checked the number on the battery housing and it is I337. The display screen I received for replacement was S4 M919 for TMobile customers. On the ribbon cable from the charge port its labeled....I9500 Touch PBA.
