Screen flickers on and off after digitizer replacement.

I replaced my Ipad 4 digitizer, when screwing the LCD back into place, I get to the top left screw and the screen blacks out. If I unscrew it about halfway then it comes back but as soon I try to put the digitizer on it, back to black.

when not screwed in, the screen works great. sounds like a bad connector, but hoping to avoid having to replace the logic board. Should I start with the screen? then move to the logic board if not cured?

Any info is appreciated.
