PowerBook G4 12" with 1.33 GHZ CPU . What model is this?

I want to try and replace the hard-drive myself.I ran the Apple hardware test and got Error code 2STF/1/4. The Logic board and Airport passed. Online, l got info that said this meant the hard drive is shot. Where do l start? I can't find any info, with this model's CPU speed of 1.33 GHZ. Apparently, Apple refers to this model as "PowerBook G4 12"/DVI" However, when l try and find a repair manual, l cannot find it for this CPU speed, only the 1.5 GHZ or lower. How important is the exact speed?

Is there something else that l should try first? The laptop cannot recognize the hard drive. I had to shut it down with the power button- then when l tried to re-install the software- it couldn't locate the drive.

l am a NOVICE please advice, other than outsourcing, because funds aren't there.

thanks

Hi, I am including a link to the file on how to identify your mac. Once identified follow the links to replace your hard drive. I believe you will find your computer is a Model A1010 and that you will need a IDE drive. Please get back to us if you need further assistance. Good luck Ralph

Did you check the jumper switch on the drive? I had an iMac G3 that did almost the same thing, and it turned out that I set them completely wrong.

If you have the drive already in the laptop, then it doesn't really matter what the model is. But I'm trying to figure out what you mean by "model". 12" PowerBook G4 1.33 Ghz is your model...

Here's a page that talks about jumper cables/switches:

usually the 2.5 drives do not require jumpers as they do not share a bus.
