Disassembled and reassembled, now having charging issues and more

Greetings,

I recently got an iPhone 5 (not a 5S) and was told by the person I got it from that I need to open it up and clean out the camera, because it has a lot of debris. So I found this guide iPhone 5の背面カメラの交換 and went to work. By step 27 I realized that I didn't need to get that far just to clean off the camera. *facepalm* So I cleaned off the camera and put everything together. I now have the following issues:

  • Mophie case now causes "Device is not certified" error message to appear
  • When Mophie case is plugged in and powered on and/or connected to wall charger, the phone will turn on and off incessantly.
  • Original iPhone charger will work, as long as I plug it in a certain way. If the charger is turned "upside down" it will cause the "Device is not certified" error message and power cycling.

Your help is appreciated as I am at a loss. Thanks in advance!

Sounds to me like you may have interrupted the motherboard in some way. Is the board sitting properly with the charging port at a straight angle?

The turning off maybe be because the the battery is not connected properly. I've had an issue before with a 4s where the phone was dead but the battery was getting hot so i took it apart and put it back together and it worked fine.

Definitely sounds like a motherboard issue tho.

I've had the issue with it being hot. That'll happen when it's powering on and off. Once it powers on and off a few times, the heat goes away and acts fine, other than not updating the battery status properly and the mophie case issue.

I'll try retracing my steps though.

Could be logic board issues. Or it could just be that you've damaged the lightning dock
