I want to replace my hard drive, what SSD is recommended?

My computer has been working really slow. The ball will spin forever at times and not load a program or page without me having to force quit and/or reboot the machine. It's extremely frustrating. I've already replace the hard drive cable without any change. even the Apple store didn't help. I use this machine for my business and often work with several windows open at a time and running a couple of programs as well. Can anyone help me decide what the best (least expensive) replacement hard drive I should get for this machine which will help speed things up and be able to run graphics programs? I've already replaced the two 2 GB of memory with two 4GB of memory. Battery is "good".

Thanks

Hi, I installed the new hard drive following directions on Ifixit. When I started it back up, all I get is a flashing question mark. Any suggestions?

Thats to be expected as the drive is virgin it has no OS software installed. You'll need to reconnect your old drive using a SATA to USB adapter so you can startup your system. Then download from the Apple Store the OS installer and prep up your new drive.

I've already safe booted my MacBook, launched Single User Mode, reset the NVRAM and reset the SMS with no change. Was there something special I failed to do after installing a new hard drive?

Just so I understand correctly, I connect the old drive to the SATA end, then I connect it to my USB port on the computer and reinstall the OS ?
