2 What is the typical fans speed & max CPU temp.
I want to upgrade my HD on iMac 27" mid 2010 to a western Digital Black 4G.
Which will mean I will need a software fan control for my Mac.
It would be really nice to know the thresholds for fan speeds and max tentative so I can set up my fans and temps on the side of caution.

I was not aware there is a hardware solution for fan control for this hard drive and my 27inch imac mid 2010?

Can you give us the exact drive you are planning on putting in. Depending on what your system currently has you maybe OK, or at worse just need a different temp sensor cable that works with the drive you are planning on using.
