They use very different signaling methods LVDS Vs internal DP. Think of it this way the gas & diesel engines can't swap there fuels as each was designed differently.

No, more like how older AM radios can't hear the newer FM signals (and visa versa). We are talking about the method of signaling here in the radio example: AM - Amplitude Modulated <> FM Frequency Modulated. This has nothing to do with the power at the input stage.

Thanks for the comment. I don't know that much about the finer details of computer technology so bear with me. Going with your analogies, this is what I want to do; I want to use diesel fuel in my gasoline car so I'm prepared to do a full engine swap!

I want to listen to FM radio on my AM set, I like the design of the AM set so much that I want to swap out the AM guts for FM guts.

Forum threads about swapping out the 2011 MBP motherboard for a 2012 MBP motherboard are plentiful. The only thing is they al get shot down at the screen connecters not being compatible. So, I want to explore the possibility of swapping the screen aswel. Hoping that the connectors will line up.
