MacBook Pro Black Screen/Blackout

Hi,

About a week ago my Early 2008 MacBookPro 15" booted to a black screen. I tried the usual PRAM and SMC reset but to no avail. I could see my screen using a flashlight, and I had no problem using and seeing my laptop when connected to an external monitor. I figure it is a problem with the backlight as I have had stage lights for the past year or more. I then came to iFixit and found a repair story that seemed exactly like my own situation, so I thought I'd give it a shot and bought an LED Driver Board: MacBook Pro 15" (Models A1226/A1260) LED Driver Board

I just replaced the LDB today with the iFixit replacement instructions. The screen came back on (very bright), but that only lasted a few minutes until it went to black again. I tried putting it to sleep and starting it up and found that the screen WILL stay on but only if it is dimly lit. And when I increase the brightness just a tad it blacks out immediately. Weird huh? Do I just need to buy a new screen/display? MacBook Pro 15" (Model A1260) Display Assembly And return the LED Driver Board? Or just settle for a new computer? Any help asap would be appreciated!

If you can faintly see the display replace the LED driver board and/or the cables that go to it. To test the cables move the screen back and forth and see if it flickers on.

Does faintly mean with a flashlight? lol I already replaced the LED driver board with one from this site. Can the cables be bought on iFixit too? Today I came home to fully lit screen...that only lasted for an hour or so until it blacked out. Perhaps one of the cables is pinched? No flickers when I move the screen.
