Do coffee makers step down voltage internally?

Please excuse my unfamiliarity with the subject I am about to ask about. I really like the coffee from a Sensoe machine. It is single use, like a Kreige but without plastic waste, and the best coffee I have ever had.

These coffee machines are only sold in Europe. I could get a transformer to step up the voltage from 110 to 220V, but I was wondering if the device internally lowered voltages like the power supply in my computer does. If it did would I be able to replace with a part that was expecting 110V instead of 220V. The Senseo 7825 is the one I like to use and rated at 1450W.

Has anyone does anything like this?

Jill, no it does not. The power specs for the Senseo are Voltage : 220 - 240 V - Frequency : 50 - 60 Hz So no issues with the Hertz. In order to use it you would need a step-up transformer 110V-220V with a minimum of 1500 Watts, preferably 2000Watts. Something like this should work.

I searched for power specs, but didn't find anything. Where did you see 50-60Hz?

in the service manual:-)

It never occurred to me to do a search for a service manual, now I have one too. Thanks so much for the help.

Transformers on Amazon have a note that for 1500 watts you need a 5000 wat transformer

Hi Jill and OT. I am in despareate search of a senseo machine US voltage, but none to be had. All are 220V as Jill stated. Jilll, did the step up converter to the link OT shared work and if so, which converter did you buy? Thanks!

I'm going to guess probably not. European power is not just 220V instead of 110V its also 50Hz instead of 60Hz.

Your computer is able to run on either the 50Hz 220V or the north american 110V 60Hz because its ultimately transforming both to DC that is usable by your computer. Thats not the case with how a coffee maker works. A coffee maker at its most basic is a water pump (likely AC) and a heating element (more than likely AC)

Now, that being said, I don't have any idea what model coffee maker you're specifically talking about. I don't even like coffee.

The Senseo coffeepad-machine contains parts that are designed for 220-240V at 50Hz (boiler and pump). Even in the case the system board regulates the 110V tot the right DC voltage for correct operation of the electronics, the Senseo will NOT work properly!

You need an 110V to 220V transformer of 1500 VA (Watt) minimal.
