My External drive that I have used to keep my games only is awfully slow,the games do not open at all or opens 5 minutes after attempting to open the game. However the drive is still functional as I was able to download more games onto E: but opening the game was not possible. I ran virus scans, updated both Windows to the latest and so have concluded that the HDD is most likely the problem.

what i would try first would be to defragment the files on the drive using a defragmenting program window has one built in to see if that would fix the issue if it does not then the issue is probably the drive itself. hear is a good video of what it does and how it works
