My phone went swimming... :(

So, my phone unluckily enough was in my swim shorts and my father-in-law had a thirsty bag on hand today! however it had been used the night before.... will it still work?? HELP! Do I need to order a new one?

Hi merita, in my personal opinion, anything like reviveaphone or these water bags for sorting out water damage is pretty useless.

Your best bet is to get the phone professionally cleaned by someone who uses an ultrasonic cleaner.

Failing that, you could try open the phone yourself, and using 99.9% isopropyl alcohol and a toothbrush, could clean up the logic board, also you could put it in the alcohol for a bit so it can dissipate any other liquid in the logic board.

I would highly recommend taking it somewhere for professional cleaning though, as an ultrasonic cleaner can clean off corrosion safely and in places where a toothbrush simply can't reach.

Hey!

I totally appreciate that people have their own opinions and experiences, but Reviveaphone is genuinely all I or anyone I know has ever used when they've water damaged their phone and it really has worked! Did it not work for you? I guess if you're confident enough to open your phone yourself you don't really need to try it though haha! I'm slightly more useless when it comes to technology, but Reviveaphone has never failed me yet!

I guess you're lucky! Basically, sticking your phone in to Reviveaphone is basically like sticking your phone in to a bag of 99.9% isopropyl alcohol, that's what annoys me about reviveaphone cashing in on such a simple thing, they both dissipate water and stop corrosion! The only reason it would work is if you get the phone straight in to reviveaphone, I guarantee if you left it though, reviveaphone wouldn't do anything.

this is where ultrasonic cleaning comes in, as that really cleans off any corrosion that may have set in on the logic board of the phone.

I repair phones myself for a living, I own a pretty expensive ultrasonic cleaner with sweep frequency etc. and I have a pretty high success rate of getting liquid damaged phones to work again!

Summary of this is, reviveaphone is good if you stick your phone in it immediately after dropping it in liquid, but ultrasonic beats it hands down for really saving a phone.

Thanks for your comment by the way! :)
