I had a bad screen on my ipod, I saw all the data, but it was distorted at the back of the screen and black in places, so I ordered a new screen and tools to fix it.
When done, it powers up but my screen is all white. If I connect to itunes, I still see all my data.
Is there something I have missed, or can you advise what else could be wrong?

It seems like you may have been sold a faulty display. Usually when I see a white screen it indicates a damaged or faulty LCD. If you are able to exchange or return the new display I would recommend that first.
If the display can not be returned or exchanged then you may want to try reseating the displays cables in their connections on the motherboard. If this achieves the same results with only a white screen then it's likely a bad LCD. You may want to inspect the LCD ribbon cable for any signs of damage, such as small tears.
