What is the difference between a device reset and a device recovery?

In trying to fix my unresponsive touchscreen, I have read from various websites that I should perform a 'device reset' or a 'device recovery'. What are the differences and which one should I do?

Thanks!

Hi Alex!

That's a great question! A 'device reset' will reset your device back to its factory settings. This means that it will be completely wiped of any existing data, so you'll want to back up your device before performing this task. A 'device recovery' on the other hand is used when you can't access the settings menu to reset the device. From recovery mode, you can access certain system operations such as resetting the device, applying updates, or clearing the partition cache.

Because it sounds like your touchscreen is not working, I would recommend performing a 'device recovery' (i.e. a 'device reset' in recovery mode).
