Why wont my sasung galaxy tab 2 charger wont charge my tablet

ok...a few days ago i've realized that i have been having some issues with my charger..usually when i plug it into the socket it shows a red X ......so use to plug it out and plug it in back...then it kinda worked but it charged really really slow....then a couple of days i realized my battery have been draining really fast...so i started to having to repeatedly plug it in each time to charge......then all of a sudden my tab wont charge...i tried everything and it still wont...i even tried to switch usb's still didn't work....plzz help me !!!!!!!!!!!!
