Thunderbolt: Black screen after closing MacBook

Since yesterday, my thunderbolt goes to black screen once I close my macbook. The screen works, because when my macbook is open and connected to Thunderbolt, it shows my screen picture on the Thunderbolt. Once closing my laptop to start working on the Thunderbolt, the screen goes black.

After restarting the whole, it is ok for a few seconds and then goes black again. What can it be?

Help us help you. The more complete the description of your problem is (what MB you're using - there are many versions, what OS you're using -there's a lot of those too, this could be a "feature" of Mavericks/Yosemite-there have been a lot of sleep/wake from sleep issues with those two OS releases) the more assistance we can provide, and, the sooner we can provide it..

Hi, it's a recent Mac Book Air 13inch and OS X Yosemite vs 10.10.1

See my answer below - you must connect an external Keyboard, mouse or trackpad, in order for closed lid display to work. Also notes for solving recognition issues.

Solved. Thanks machead3, it was an issue with the power connection, which was not working anymore.

Requirements for closed-display mode:

Power adapter

External keyboard, mouse, or trackpad

External display

Enable closed-clamshell (display closed) mode

Note: If your external display isn't recognized when it is connected and the computer is powered on, try connecting the display while the computer is asleep or while the computer is off; wake or power on the computer after you connect the display.
