Why can't I download any more apps?

I have an LG Optimus Hub android phone. My problem is that every time I try to download apps from play store I get a message saying 'insufficient internal memory'. I have tried to clear as much internal memory as possible by deleting other apps and moving some to my 32Gb Sd card but I still get the same message. I hardly have any apps in my phone!!!

Is there a way that I could download my apps directly into the Sd?

Please help, otherwise the phone works fine, I am trying to avoid the purchase of a new phone.

Thanks in advance. Lovely web site !

Hi! This sometimes happens to me on my own phone. The two solutions are to either migrate some of the data (photos, music, downloads, etc.) from your internal storage to your SD card, or move apps from your internal storage to SD card.

I'd recommend getting a file manager from the play store to see what is taking up so much space on your internal storage. This file manager should do the trick. Once you have that installed you can look in your Downloads, Music, and DCIM (pictures) folders and see if there are any large files that you can delete. If there is a large group of music, pictures, etc. that you don't want to delete, but don't want on your internal storage, you can use the file manager to move them. This can be done by long pressing the folder/file name, selecting "move" from the options, and then navigating to the SD card and selecting "paste".

Here's a list of YouTube videos that explain how to do this. Videos.

This video in particular should be helpful for moving both files and apps to your SD card. Video

Hope it works out!

hello Chris!

Thanks for your answer but I'm afraid that most of my pictures, apps and music were already stored in the SD, since I'm not able to access them when the SD it is removed. I uninstalled youtube's updates to be able to download the file manager that you suggested. It is very good but it isn't solving my problem. There are still some apps that won't move to my SD unless I root my phone. After downloading the file manager, memory has reached it's limit and I still cannot download apps nor update the current ones (and now I don't have youtube D:). I tried deleting unnecessary files from apps I had previously uninstalled that were sucking up memory.

Any further suggestions? Do you know if I can make google play or any other app stores download my apps in my SD by default? I've read that it is possible if I root my phone but I'm not sure if it is a good idea.

Oh bummer, I was hoping that would work. I've been looking at a few apps that advertise being able to move apps onto an SD card, but each I've tried requires root. I went digging around in the Google Play settings and I couldn't find an option to set a default place to install apps.

I remember there used to be an option in the Application Settings page to move an app to SD card, but I checked on my phone and it looks like that option was removed a few versions ago.

I'm pretty disappointed that they removed the ability to install apps to SD cards. A lot of recent phones have been shipping with very small internal storage, compared to, say, a 32GB SD card, and once they fill up it there isn't much to do about it.

It does look like rooting your phone could solve your problem, but I would recommend against doing so unless you really feel like you know what you're doing. Most of the documentation I found for rooting the Optmius Hub isn't very complete or user-friendly.

I'm sorry I couldn't be of more help. :(

under storage tab. misc tab. system data keeps growing taking memory from the phone. got my phone replaced. lg stylo comes with 8gb but came with 4.5gb taken up by system data under the misc tab. since then it has grown to 6.45gb. it cannot be deleted. ive tried, went to the store where i bought it and they were lost. ive moved every thing i can to my memory card and disabled the ones i couldnt move. the system data is still growing, taking up all my memory.

3) Force Stop & clear data

4)go back

5)select Google Play Store

6)Force Stop & clear data & then : UNINSTALL UPDATES

reboot your phone

et Voila!

it is working.....

it worked for me, as well. Just one comment for those users who, like me, aren't the most technologically savvy. The first step on my LG was to go to apps, then settings, then general, then apps again. This got me to all of my apps and then I was able to go to Google Play Services. Thanks for the fix!

I tried but it keeps saying it's calculating and there's no cache to clear the buttons clear

It wont let me hit force stop

Hi lauren marlow,

Try the following

Go to Menu > Settings > scroll down to and tap Apps. Swipe on right side to the ‘All’ tab and scroll down and look first for Download Manager. Tap to enter then Tap Clear Cache return to the home screen and then try to download something. If it still doesn’t work try Clear Data in Download Manager.

Next, return to the ‘All’ tab and look for Google Play Store, Tap to enter then tap Clear the cache and restart your device. You should be able to download an app now.

My Galaxie J7 Prime does not have a manage application or a Download Manager - Play Store won't download anything - it say's Download Pending.....Can you Help ?

さんによる

The above steps to clear download manager data and then of google play store helped fix the issue for me only after I did a factory reset of mobile first. Those who still face issue, try the above 2 steps and if still problem, do a factory reset of mobile(backup all data first) and then try the 2 steps again.

Hi @Debbie Johnson

Here is a link which explains perhaps why you are getting this request. If you are trying to download free apps that is.

The phone must be clear cached and factory reset. Take all pics and videos off, and remove the SD card too. Then see if their are any UPDATES that may alleviate the storage issue. Then carefully add back most important to least the apps you want to keep. Try to MOVE them to SD card as much as possible. As a last resort take the phone back if the issue persists. There is another work around from the YOUTUBE or internet where you can convert the SD card INTO the Internal Storage, but that is a RISKY one, because you can brick the phone or mess up the SD from being used again by another SD card. Is there any way to prevent programs from my LG tablet from downloading to my cel phone. I don't need Google books or music on my LG cell phone. It jams up my memory daily . my cel just needs phone numbers, texts and maps. Not all this other crap. When I try to delete LG or At&t programs that came with the phone, I get warning this could affect other programs. ???

This is a fix for Cricket LG Stylo phones with memory problems.

I had the same problem and there is a simple fix that nobody seems to be aware of. I just got the info from my Cricket rep 2 weeks ago and wanted to make sure it worked before posting here. It does. The problem is with LG's latest software update - it fills up our already meager memory space with useless junk. To fix: - backup phone - perform factory reset - when going through the setup screen DO NOT AGREE TO SOFTWARE UPDATES FOR LG. You will be allowed to proceed WITHOUT clicking AGREE - enjoy your properly working phone! It's been working flawlessly for me for two weeks now and I even have more apps installed than I did before. You will still need to move apps to an SD card to save space, but you'd have to do that anyway with only 8gb of memory. Good luck!

I don't know if anyone still needs this issue truly answered , there Are too many responses for me to read them all. The problem the original paintif has is that the internal memory is small compared to his ad card. Depending on which version of Android being run on that persons optimus is that settings need to be told to store to the sd card instead of internal memory. Plus reduce the amount of apps downloaded. All non essential and unused or rarely used apps should be uninstalled. This the answer the the paintif's problem. Any other questions or problems you can contact me at 6ya.com .

go to settings>go to apps> tap on an app > clear data and force stop on all of the apps if you can. and if the the internal space is running out thing disappears then problem should be solved. I also have this issue with my cricket lg Stylo 2 that is 16gbs . So I can relate to this problem as well.
