Gateway DX4860 desktop display doesn't start and pops?
I get a popping sound thru my speakers as the monitor tries to start and even when the monitor is off. I'm thinking maybe the power strip. It only happens once in a while. The monitor is an hp crt. Its worked perfectly for quite some time. I'm completely confused.
kevin, start off by trying a different monitor. There are many things that could be the cause for that and your question is very broad. It could be your video card, video settings, power to the monitor or the monitor itself. What make and model is your monitor? CRT's are way different than LCD's and harder to repair as well as carrying some very high currents. So unless you are fairly well versed in that type of repair, don't poke around the inside of your monitor ;-)
