WiFi No Hardware installed post internal meddling how to fix?

OK, I have a MacBook Pro Late 2008 2.4Ghz MB470LL. so I just fitted an HDD into one of those optical drive-shaped caddy. It was a little bit fiddly getting it in, with the various cables in the way, but I don't think I was particularly rough.

Now the new HDD is fine, but Wi-Fi was not working - well it wasn't then it was and then it wasn't!

FaceTime camera is fine (not sure if this is relevant).

Wi-Fi doesn't show in hardware information.

Wondering if the cable may be partly broken (it does seem to take an excessively sharp corner around the top of the drive) or a problem with the connector. I have read here that the connector can get a pin out of place, so I may try that.

Any ideas for other diagnostics?

If you're not finding an airport card under System Profiler/System Information (what it's call is based on the OS you have) then THE CARD is not fully slotted or the slot is damaged. A damaged antenna would not cause a no hardware alert.

If the card is detected and you're not getting a signal'' it MAY be the antenna - (a box that age has been opened a lot of times and an antenna cable could have been nicked or just fractured due to age - if you are 100% certain your wireless network is correctly set up and not recently changed.
