Polar F11 Heart Rate Monitor battery replacement instructions?

I am trying to change the battery on my Polar F11 fitness watch. When I removed the back cover on the watch I realized it was a little more difficult than I had expected.

If someone has had experience for changing the battery in this device I would appreciate some help.

Thanks

Above post is incorrect. Once you remove the back cover you will see a metal tab covering the battery. You need to insert a VERY small (eyeglass size) screwdriver into a recess on the end of the tab after the tab turns 90 degrees to head toward the front of the watch. Pry this outward toward the periphery and the tab will come unhooked and pop up releasing the battery. Once new battery is in place, press tab back into its slot and it will lock back into place. Clean gasket and use a small amount of silicone on it b4 replacing the back and screws. Do not overtighten screws -- they just thread into plastic.

This technique worked perfectly. The small flat head screw driver is inserted at 90° to the watch body and then leveraged toward the periphery, as the post states. The tab popped right up. I inserted the screwdriver into the hole outlined in black to pry up the battery. I then grasped the battery with a small needle nose pliers, and out it came. This approach is much easier than the more detailed approach which follows in the next post

I used a 0.9mm flat-head but looks like a 1.2mm will also work to release the battery retainer. The original battery I find inside is a Panasonic CR2032 3V (Indonesia 2).

I just changed this battery 5 minutes ago. Once you remove the 4 screws on the back, lift the cover off. You'll see the battery facing you. Simply insert a small screwdriver in one of the holes at the rim of the battery and pry the battery out.

To insert the battery, push it in (you may need to insert it slightly from the side). Be sure that the positive (+) side is facing you. Then put the cover back on and it's done. Good luck!

Hello ... my friend got a new Pulsar unit so I got a deal on the old one, the F-11. Since I have some background in many electronic assembly items, I did not see a big problem. I did end up cheating a little bit, just to get the unit working and verify that it did work.

(1) Clearly, you need a small Phillips-head screwdriver just to get loose the 4 miniature screws on the back of the watch. You can get a set of 6 (3 Phillips and 3 slotted) at any Dollar Tree for $1.00.

(2) BUT ... do *not* just gleefully start unscrewing the screws and then lift off the back of the watch. No, no, no.

(3) Viewing the watch from the *front*, take note of the lower right-hand corner. Then look immediately behind the watch at that corner -- and if you need to, use a Marks-a-Lot or a laundry marker black ink marker to put a little dot by it or something.

(4) And why? ... because there is a little * SPRING* right behind there, that's why. And you do *not* want it to pop out and land on your rug when you remove the metal back plate off of the watch -- because you may never see that little spring again.

(5) At this point, after carefully removing the metal back plate, you will observe sitting there is a thin, square piece of metal (with the little spring visible in one corner) which takes up the entire inside of the watch. You can clearly see the battery with its little "bumpy" side up (that is the positive side).

(6) That same package of little screwdrivers has a small "flat" one as well which is good for the next step.

It was clear to me that the thin little square of metal with a center "strap" holding the little 2032 battery did without a doubt extend and snugly wrap all the way around the main part of the watch mechanism on all four sides.

(7) Therefore, I decided to just let the whole watch mechanism slide out, drop out or be wiggled out.

(8) At that point, you will need to carefully go with the little slotted screwdriver and release the prongs ALL AROUND the main mechanism piece. As I recall, there will be one at each corner and I think one in the center of at least two sides.

(9) NOW IS WHEN that little spring can pop out or fall out. It is *not* held in by anything. Mine fell out. And shortly after, I discovered that only ONE SIDE of it fits back in, not just either one. So I changed out the battery and then put the spring back in.

(10) I then put the thin little square metal piece back onto the top of the whole unit, and pushed the prongs all around it back to snap into place locking it to the main unit.

(11) At this point, you will notice just sitting inside the watch itself all this time is a thin little square piece of metal. It is sort of "surrounding" the edge of the watch face area from the back side. And it has one vertical "prong" in the bottom center which is to hold in place the main unit as it sits back down into the watch itself.

(14) BUT .. no matter what I did, I could not get the main watch mechanism unit with its new battery to click into place. I kept trying to slide the bottom of it into this little retaining prong, but then one or another corner of the mechanism just REFUSED. Dont' *force* it.

(15) At this point I could see the watch face was displaying things, and was working. So I just *cheated* for the time being, and I slid the main unit into the watch itself -- leaving out the thin metal square piece with its little veritcal prong. The watch unit went right in.

(16) So I then put the 4 little screws to hold the back plate in, and that was that.

(17) Next job was the new battery for the chest strap transmitter. NOTE: there are a couple of short You Tube videos on these subjects now.

(18) Hope this helps. Take care, Bill
