Dropped screw onto logic board and it sparked, now dead. Need help ASAP!

Hi,

i was upgrading my MacBook Pro mid 2012 to a 6GB RAM, battery and a 1TB HD.

I installed everything perfectly, after turning it on to restore online install for OS-X software, and the back-up are all not working.

After that I opened the Mac up again to check on everything although during the checkup a screw fell on the logic board and it sparks! So I put everything back together, plugged in the charger ..etc

But, this time it's not working neither! The system or the charger is it showing me the battery status, so I read a post that mentions unplugging the battery and pressing the power to eliminate excess current, unfortunately this didn't work.

I tried returning all old parts this this was just an upgrade and this didn't work as expected because it was after the spark.

So I decided to remove the logic board and re-assemble it just to make sure that all the wires are plugged correctly , and still nothing.

I searched for similar issues but as explained none worked,

If anyone could help out it would be great.

These are the focused pictures I've placed a screw&screwdriver on the area were the spark occurred

Sadly the image is not very useful, can you take another one this time focusing on the area you suspect is damaged. Make sure its in focus and zoomed in. The higher the image quality will also be very helpful so we can magnify it more to see the components.

Ouch! It sounds like you shorted out something on the logic board. Where did the screw fall near the battery connector?

When you first restarted your system after upgrading things did your system start up and have a blinking question mark? Is that why you went back in.

Sorry the images aren't helpful. I can't magnify them enough to see the needed detail.

I uploaded some zoomed in pictures, check them out.

I think its time to bring the system into an authorized Apple service center or Apple Store to see what they can do for you.

Yeah, definitely although I'm 100% certain that they'll replace the logic board, and I'd rather do that then goin to them. It's because they consider it as too much labour. That's what I heard.

Many repair houses only do board swap out instead of component level diagnostics as the needed skills and tools is much higher than what many of the repair shops can afford. Apple aggregates their returned parts from all of the Apple Stores and authorized repair centers and fixes them. I was lucky enough to see one of their repair depots and it was a great surprise! They are very high tech with some very expensive equipment to diagnose and repair the logic boards.

ZZ, like Dan already mentioned, you will have to get closer and clearer images. Use a paint program to highlight the area. We will need hi-res images to zoom in and try to identify where and what part sparked. focus on the area around the screwdriver. Your images is not clear enough, but there are some suspicious looking parts:-) When you take your pictures, try to to take them straight on instead of at an angle. Also, please verify which MBP this is. you have the device listed as a 15inch, but your EMC number appears to be a 2554 which would make it a 13 inch.

update

Here is the area that looks different. You do need to give us better images to see what this is.

zz, if you are going to replace the logic board, then this becomes a moot point.

Thanks old turkey , I changed the model and see if the new pics are any good?

I added pictures of the same model but another logic board that have the same kind of wax or plastic on , I also added pictures of the logic board you asked for... Check them out.

Okay I see. well at this point you should go with what Dan suggested. It is pretty much impossible to diagnose from the images since no visible part is destroyed.
