Wi-Fi "No hardware installed" message

Hi,

I have to replace my Wi-Fi card on my MacBook Pro 15" Unibody 2,66 GHz Mid 2009 with Antiglare screen.

When opening it, i've found the BT card but not the Wi-Fi.

I've been told that the card is in the display. IS it really ?

I've checked the different repair manuals but didn't found the right one to fix my problem.

Any idea ?

Thanks for your answer.

Regards

Emmanuel

Sadly Yes you need to pull the display as the AirPort (WiFi) board is located in the Clutch cover.

For some reason the guide is gone from the site (its the same for either Glossy or Anti-Glase models).

Here is the needed steps with very little difference: MacBook Pro 15" Unibody Late 2008 and Early 2009 Airport Card Replacement.

The AirPort part you'll need is Apple PN: 661-4766.

Hi machead3,

Thank you for your answer but it doesn't solved my problem.

Before asking for help, I've tried to upgrade my OS and checked for repair guides…

The problem is still the same...

If by "upgrade your OS you meant move to Mavericks or Yosemite that could be part of your problem. Mavericks had a lot of "undiscovered features" on older boxes with network drops, sleep/wake issues among them. Though a Mac user for decades I would not be surprised to find many similar problems with Yosemite - based on the ball drops of Mavericks and IOS 8. As with WinDUHows of old I would not move until service pack (update) two has been released. Go back to the OS you were running whatever it was
