Not on my 1998 Honda CR-V. I am trying to get a in car valve compressor to replace valve seals. The tools list engine letter and two digit number and sometimes a letter after the number. My owner's manual simply calls my engine a 2L, same with EPA tag. The door tags only lists a vin. So far I have not found anything with a lettered engine number.

Looking at the information from the 1998 Honda CR-V service manual, the engine type is a code number within the Vin number.
