Are the memory chips soldered in?

Mine has 8 Gb of RAM; the Crucial scanner indicates it can be upgraded to 16 Gb, but I'm doubting that; it seems too thin to have sockets for the memory. Can anyone confirm/deny whether the RAM chips are soldered in or not?
