Blank Screen, Keyboard Flashing

My machine will not power up properly. The keyboard backlight flashes three times, with no output on the screen. What does this indicate?

In reviewing the Adamo 13 Service Manual and Diagnostic and Battery Indicators for Latitude Notebooks and Tablets, I could not find any documentation about error codes relating the keyboard.

I reviewed the Dell Adamo Teardown, I would recommend disconnecting the battery cable to the system. While disconnected, hold down the power button for 30 seconds. Upon releasing the power button attempt to boot the laptop normally with the power supply.

If the system boots normally, shut it down, then re-connect the battery and try booting again normally. If the system boots with the battery, then I would recommend running diagnostics on your machine after re-assembling the system.

If the system does not boot without the battery disconnected or with the battery re-connected, then I would recommend disconnecting the ambient light sensor for the keyboard indicated in step 13 and repeating the steps with the battery disconnected, then re-connected using the power supply. The keyboard should remain connected.

Lastly, I would try disconnecting the battery, ambient light sensor and keyboard. Re-connect the keyboard and ambient light sensor hold the power button for 30 seconds, while trying to power on the system. If the system powers on, re-assemble the Adamo 13 and power on the system normally and run diagnostics on the keyboard and battery. If the system does not boot up, I would recommend contacting Dell Technical support for assistance.

Unfortunately, the memory on the unit in the teardown is integrated, but if your unit has removable memory, I would also recommend removing the memory, cleaning the contacts and using compressed air to clean the area the memory is seated in.

Before contacting Dell support, you can also test the system by removing other hardware components to determine if a specific component might be causing the issue. It is possible that the motherboard might need to be repair or replaced and I recommend researching a local repair shop that might be able to help resolve the issue you are having.
