copper adhesive cable in Front Camera and Sensing Cable Replacement

In the repair guide "iPhone 5s Front Facing Camera and Sensor Cable Replacement" there is copper adhesive ribbon like cable attached to the LCD Shield Plate that is removed during replacement. What is this copper cables function. None of the replacement parts seem to have it?

it is some sort of grounding cable, in my experience nothing happens if this gets ripped off but for future reference you don't have to remove it. just unscrew everything from the lcd shield and it should be able to come off with the front camera

That only works if you are not replacing the camera/proximity sensor cable assembly itself right? I didn't even remove the LCD shield.

Regardless, it does seem as though your main point is still completely valid. That is, the copper adhesive tape grounding cable is a minor component that doesn't adversely affect the function of the cable assembly.

Still it seems odd that the original cable has it, the replacement lcd screens with camera assemblies omit it completely, and the replacement front camera cable assemblies have a different section of cable in its place, presumably providing the same function?

I second this question. And what do we do with the ribbon ends that come with it? (Ones not on the original)
