What can be done about a frozen screen?
My iMac froze on me and it turns on, but it stays on the gray screen; it also has blue lines on the screen.

Help us help you. The more complete the description of your problem is (any pertinent history (lightening strikes, dropping, liquids, opening and messing about inside the box that occurred before your issue, what OS you're using -there's a lot of those, what steps/procedures you may have already tried) the more assistance we can provide, and, the sooner we can provide it,
Have you tried:
- Booting in Safe Mode
- Booting from a different volume (HD or Optical disk)
- Resetting the SMC
- Connecting to an external monitor to see if the problem exists on a different display?
If not that's how to begin to determine if the problem is the GPU/VGC (video graphics board) or if it may be your HD/Boot System.
