Can I replace/improvise the battery lead/ground?

Under the red silicone battery terminal cover I tore the gold lead from ground to battery. Can I improvise or stretch the lead and re-insert it into battery?

if you tore the flex cable to the battery i would just order a new battery as it comes attached
