While detaching the battery flex cable from the mother board i mistakenly ripped off the mother board part that directly connects to the cable. At the moment it still works when the the flex cable with piece attached is placed back into mother board.
Will this be a problem in the long term or should it continue to work as is?
Can this be fixed without replacing the entire mother board?

But I think I no what your on about.. This part needs soldered back on the motherboard

Yes you understand what the problem is.
If it is working as is do I still need to have it soldered back on?
Should this cost a lot?

It most likly will case problems in the future so I would be it sorted there is a woman on here called Jessabethany that does this kind of repair and will be a easy fix
