the top portion where the shutter is located in my nikon l120 was bitten by a dog and i bought a similar camera to repair that part. but i am not able to open the top portion of the camera fearing some damage may occur. I appreciate very much if some one could let me know how to open the top portion of the camera.

Each model has a different set of parts and most of the parts are not replaceable in the covers. Unless you got the exact same model cover to swap out you'll need to get the correct part.
As to replacing it once you have the correct part. You'll need to remove quite a few screws and some other parts are you able to handle small fragile parts? Do you have a good work surface and good lighting? If you do then you'll need to get the repair manual from Nikon (or other source) to help guide you on the proper steps of disassembly.

ok thank you I looked for the repair manual in the net but could not find out. I did not contact nikon so far and i do contact them looking for the repair manual.if there are anybody who had experience in removing the top portion of nikon l120 could please help me.
