My PS3 won't go into Safe Mode

I'm not sure what version I have of the PS3 because it was a gift a few years ago (but still in the package when I got it) but I was playing a game when the screen froze, so I left it for a good few minutse to see if it would fix on its own and when it didn't I tried to reset it but it wouldn't turn off, so I unplugged it and plugged it back in. When I turned it back on it said the PS3 was not turned off correctly (as expected) and the data file was corrupted so I allowed it to try and fix the issue. It was stuck on 0% for a few hours, so I unplugged it again and plugged it back in. Upon turning it on the next time it said Cannot Start. The appropriate storage system was not found. I tried to enter safe mode but nothing happened and it just turned on to the same Cannot Start screen.

Telling the poor guy that you have the same problem, is the stupidest thing I have ever read. He needs a solution..not your problems.

In my opinion, it the cost of repair is $150..it's cheaper than buying new. If you have $240..buy a new one.

After going in safe mode It starts them it goes blank for ever !

PS3 fell I took out hard drive and replaced it still didn't work went into safe mode to restore etc But it won't work in any setting

First, try putting the console in recovery mode and running the "Restore File System" option. If you are met with errors here, the hard drive may have failed/is failing. PS3's store a portion of their operating system on the hard drive and the fact that the problem got worse to the point where it wouldn't boot up suggests this. You can confirm it a number of ways. The easiest is probably to put your ear up to the console when turning it on and listening for a faint clicking sound like the one in this video at around 10 seconds. That's a definite sign that the hard drive is dead. If you can't hear anything and happen to have one laying around, put the drive in a SATA hard drive enclosure, connect it to a computer, and test it in there (However, a PC will not be able to detect the drive without formatting, which will delete all data on the drive if it still works, so ignore any prompts to format the drive if you test it with this method). If it turns out that the hard drive is the problem, you can order any 2.5" SATA hard drive as a replacement and install it with this guide assuming you have a fat PS3 (Shaped like the one in the iFixit picture)

If you cant get onto safe mode/recovery mode, try putting the console in recovery mode...

First of all, saying he should buy a new one does not answer the question. It is passive aggressive nonsense and doesn't do anything to help.

Now!

Here's how to fix it.

Step one.

Follow the instructions provided by this kids video (skip to 40 seconds and the kid finally gets to the point) be careful and mindful of everything you do, and please unplug your playstation before you do it so you don't electrocute yourself.

Second.

Now that you've done the basic cleaning of your hardware, we're going to clean your soft, because I guarantee this happened just after you overloaded your system storage with a game/app/file that was just short of the storage line.

OK.

Once you've done what was said above,

Preform the system fix as the playstation tells you to.

(Don't worry, it will only take a few minutes and not the 2-3 hours playstation says it could.).

The system will reboot.

Once it does, find a large game file and delete it.

This should free up the much need room your hard drive needs to remain efficient, quite, and quit giving you the bullshit message you came here to fix.

Hi ya ive cleaned my hard drive as you suggested above but i cant get off the stuck screen how do reboot or get off the stuck screen there's no options the screen is just stuck can you please give me very broken down basic instructions im a mum trying to mend ps3 for my autistic son his ps3 helps him chill out

To put into safty mode, make sure the system is off. Then hold ur finger on the button for 3 beeps. Let go for half a second , then hold a again. Wait for 2. Beeps and then the last beeps shoukd be a little faster... Then there ya go

hi all, my ps3 turns on but it wont even show the ps3 sign, secondly it does show the safe mode so its not an hdmi problem. it says “cannot acceess storage”

none of the safe mode methods are working so i tried resart ps3 nothing. does anyone have any tips
