MacBook Pro screen colors distorted/flickering/messed up

Hello!

I would like to request help from you. Has anyone ever encountered such problem, that when your Macbook pro would be a little shaken the colors get messed up the way in the picture below.

The macbook pro is -09 model, but I have another one too which doesn't have this problem.

Here Link to Video

a short video which presents the problem. I would only shake the laptop a bit (Even picking it up and move) then the colors get distorted and another shake to make it go normal again. So what could be the problem? I tried Pulling the display data cable connector away from its socket and putting it back but nothing new. Is there any easy fix for this?

Thanks in advance

Did you drop or bang your system? It looks like the display drivers are having problems. These are connected on the back side of the display unit sadly, they are not replaceable the entire display will need to be replaced (lid assembly).

To double check things here: I would connect an external display to your system and see if the problem is visible on it if not then that proves the issue is the display unit.

If on the other hand it shows up on the external then you have a logic board issue. Did you get your system wet or sit on a wet surface?

I myself have not banged it anywhere. I just bought it 2 months ago used, but only opened it up recently and once I lifted it once up and it appeared, I thought it would be just something temporary or not too big of an issue, but then it happened many times again.

I connected an external screen yes, but the distortion doesn't appear on it.

I don't know if this helps at all, but when I try to shake it off from the screen, lid it doesn't. It needs to be shaken from the logic board / keyboard side to make it go away.

Ah anyways.. It seems this is no small issue..

Thank you for your time

If it does not show up on the external then you know its the built-in display or its connection to the logic board. You could open the system and try replacing the LVDS cable. I've mostly seen bars and distortion Vs color shift when the cable has gone. You could start there.

I faced recently this problem. I solved it.

I noticed that with time the lid of the Mac book was becoming soft and any movement of the laptop could bring the screen lid to close. Then I started to get distortions of colors on the display. I cautiously inserted a very thin screw driver in the left hinge of the laptop and i noticed that the colors returned back to Normal. I repeated several times these operations and 100% colors turned back to Normal.

Therefore I just took a metal wire of about 1mm of diameter and I inserted it around the axis of the hinge exactly like a washer. Then the distortions disappeared for ever.

Hope this would help.

This sounds like the display cable is damaged shorting out on the case and your wedge separated the two. I wouldn't leave it that way as clearly something is just not right here.
