Inductor cracked on mobo, trying to find repacement

Hey guys! I was cleaning my MBP and noticed a component on the motherboard was cracked. There was antoher thread here earlier last year on someone's 13 inch MBP about replacing theirs, but no one gave a definitive answer. Basically, I need to replace the one on mine. Can anyone help me identify EXACTLY what it is, and direct me to a link for an exact replacement? Here's a pic, thanks!

I have this same problem on mine but it's a 330 inductor I found on this site https://www.digikey.com/en/product-highl... I haven't got the part yet but will let you know if it works when I do. Or if someone gets it's before me let me know.

I had ordered the part but it never came. So now I have to try again.

Nic Splatts, from the view of your image it appears that your logicboard is a Mid 2010. That is reference designator L6995, which is a 33UH inductor of the CDPH4D19 series. Check places like this one for a replacement. Hope this helps, good luck

Can I just unsolder the old one and solder the replacement on it or do I need special tools?

You could use a good soldering iron but a hot air workstation would be appropriate as well. you have of course soldered parts like this on a logic board before? Trust me, it may look easy but you will need some practice if you have not done this kind of work....;-) If you have not, you might also consider having a repair shop do this work for you.

Hi Nic, did you manage to fix? I have the exact same cracked inductor on my macbook pro. It wont power on and I want to try replacing the inductor.

Inductor casings crack all the time, but the coil itself should be fine. Most likely the issue will be with something else on the logic board, rather than the inductor.

If there is voltage one side, and none/low voltage the other, the inductor is bad. If the voltage is the same both sides, the inductor is fine.

Thanks for the reply Reece. This macbook pro (15 mid 2010) doesn't power on, magsafe light is very faint green when connected. Battery has signs of overheating. Visual inspection, the only visible smd component damage is the inductor. Hence why I'm thinking of replacing. How can I measure if the inductor is working or not if it is in circuit? Thanks
