Adhesive for Samsung Galaxy Beam GT-i8530?

I currently am preparing to replace my Samsung Galaxy GT-i8530. I've zero experience replacing glued screens thus here I am asking for tips and suggestions.

Replacement part

I understand the process of removing the screen. The information I'm missing is if the digitizer screen already has the glue or if I have to supply the glue. In the case that I've to supply the glue then what kind and brand is recommended for this procedure? If you guys have the needed glue please provide me with a link. Thanks

I am also upgrading my tool for this upcoming task by buying the iFixIt iOpener kit

iOpener

What do you guys think, would this serve me well for this task?

[Btw, the Pro Tech Toolkit looks sweet. Now I don't know what to get =)]

This repair is not something that usually works out for most people. To properly bond the glass you need to use a product called LOCA (Liquid Optically Clear Adhesive) available many places, here is a link for some from Amazon. The the assembly needs to be placed in a vacuum chamber to remove the micro bubbles and then the adhesive needs to be activated using UV light. Sometimes people will be successful with the LOCA and no vacuum chamber. Sometimes people have success with adhesive sheets that can be purchased separately and are advertised as being for this purpose, but in my experience, it usually leads to frustration, and additional expense.

Best of luck to you!

Update

Juan, I apologize. I misread your original post - I thought you were working on a G4!

Most likely what the person in the video meant was that they would be using the heat to soften the existing adhesive to get a better final bond.

Thanks for the link ^_^

I don't think the digitizer is directly glued to the LCD screen itself but rather the chrome frame, which I believe holds the two together. I believe that each, the digitizer & LCD screen, are glued to the chrome frame.

After further research i found a video of a person doing exactly what I will be doing, changing the digitizer on the gt-i8530. Sadly, the quality is poor.

Watching the video, I get the impression that he didn't use any glue, then again, he can seen activating the glue with a heat gun.

Most likely that's what the scenario will be. In a week I shall find out for sure. :)

I recently bought a new digitizer glass for my Samsung Galaxy tab 7". The glue was already on the new digitizer so no need to apply any. I would suggest to apply gaffer tape on the edge of the case where the digitizer glass begins if you use a sharp object to remove the glass. I scratched the case while removing the glass. Use a hot air gun to preheat the glass before removing, preheat a section the work on it and be careful to not scratch the LCD panel with your opening tool.

Juan, what you can do is buy regular double sided adhesive. You might be able to find it at any major hardware store. Use a heatgun (or a hairdryer) around the trim of the phone to soften the old adhesive and use a regular guitar pick to run through the trim, lifting up the screen.

I got both: the LOCA glue from amazon & a friend provided me with some double side adhesive tape. Then there is the possibility that the digitizer might already come with some adhesive. :) Bring it on digitizer Grrr

Cool, you shouldn't have any problem then. I doubt you may need to use the loca. Also in order to dry the loca, you need uv light. So just make sure you have that as well.
