My backlight is out or there's a false connection, what to do?

Broken cable in the hinge, not powering the inverter board anymore. I believe this is what is happening but i am unsure of how to repair it. I also would want to know the cost of something like that repair... Please answer.

noah wilson, the first thing I would suggest is that you get the service manual. Download it from here. It will show you how to work on your laptop. The inverter itself will cost you around $20, the cable has part number KN358 and can be picked up used for around $5. Hope this helps, good luck.
