PRAM, SMC Require Frequent Reset to Ensure Good Sound Quality

My 17-inch, late 2011 2.5GHz Intel Core i7 MacBook Pro with 4GB DDR3 RAM has issues with sound quality. The sound quality isn't horrible, but it improves 10-20% upon resetting the PRAM and SMC. The sound goes from muddy to clear and vibrant after a reset. I am running the latest version of Lion but I intend to upgrade to Mavericks. Also on power-up it can make a noisy sound from the lower right section of the case, I don't know if it's related. After a reset everything sounds great, but after a period of a few days or a week it needs a reflash. I love the 17inch form factor, but I want to make sure this isn't an issue with the Logic Board. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank You.

I think you have serious logic board/OS - HD/application problems. The resets you are doing are not supposed to be a regular occurrence. They are extreme measures intended to be used for troubleshooting and repairing occasional (not regular) problems.

You don't mention the application are you using for Audio - sometimes application preferences get corrupt and when they do strange things happen. Also if there are lots of applications running at the the same time this could possibly be a CPU issue.

If you have Apple Care - use it. If you don't try a clean reinstall of the OS or visit a genius bar might not hurt to check at AppleSupport to see if this is a known and covered issue (sometimes things are under TSB or "silent recall/extended warranty".

If this answer is acceptable please remember to return and mark it.
