replacement power/usb/firewire/dvi cable assembly

I recently acquired a 30" Cinema HD Display (A1083) with a broken 5-pin power connector (the end that goes into the power supply). Since the power, usb, firewire, and DVI cables are all bundled into one, you have to replace the whole thing to fix one of them.

I ordered a replacement, cracked open the monitor (makes it sound easier than it was...) and replaced the cable assembly. Fired it up and.... bad picture. I thought perhaps the receiver was the problem, but with the LCD panel still out of the housing, I combined the two cable assemblies, using the new one for power and the original for the DVI and... perfect picture. I sent the cable back, ordered a different one and got the same exact result.

Here's the part I'm hoping to get help with:

After looking at the picture for a bit, it occurred to me that it looks like each pair of pixels is reversed. So the image should be:

[ 1 2 3 4 ]

[ 5 6 7 8 ]

but is:

[ 2 1 4 3]

[ 6 5 8 7]

This leads me to suspect that the data links on the DVI-D cable are reversed, since with Dual Link DVI, each sequential video pixel is transmitted on alternate links. Is this possible that the cable is incorrect? Or is this some type of timing issue? If anyone can point me in the right direction, I would really appreciate it.
