when i press the power button on my MacBook pro, all i hear is the fan running for 2-3seconds then i hear a click and then the laptop just shuts off, i have been told that my Logic board is shot, not responding. if so i would like to get pricing on it.

You could unplug the HD cable and the Super drive cable from the logic board, reseat the keyboard ribbon cable and do the smc reset just for giggles.
I've seen several 2-3 second and shutdown issues caused by keyboard problems.

Well... I found some but the prices vary wildly. Here is a link to some on ebay. Good luck on those. As fas as what's actually causing the problem it sounds like it could be a faulty power supply. Is it possible that something is drawing too much power from the unit and causing it to trip? Wish I had a real answer for you, good luck.
