ipad glue/adhesive doesn't stick properly

Hi everybody,

i replaced my broken glass. But now the new glue doesnt stick properly (the original glue from ipad digitizer). So, i take it off and bought a new one. But same happened again! Its everytime the same left corner next to the home button (there is the digitizer flex cable).

Any solutions? Maybe with a superglue? Which kind of glue could i use?

Im from germany and english is my fourth langauge. therefore my english is a little bit bad.

I used gorilla gel or loctite gel squeeze some onto card, use a cocktail stick to smear on a very thin later avoid any part that’s not the metal frame. Use adjustable framing clamps to lightly hold it there

There are many things you have to be aware of: you must have proper gluing AND a perfect fit.

- Most important is to avoid compressing the folded digitizer cable, which will damage it and may cause the digitizer to become non-responsive, or cause ghost-typing (works alone).

- Clean the iPad (the aluminum side) very well with isopropyl alcohol (85%+) or goo-off to remove the old glue. Don't do so with the digitizer which is delicate and may be scratched or damaged.

- Check that everything is working properly (lcd, WiFi, front and back camera, volume up/down, mute, power) before regluing the digitizer. And check that the LCD and inside of the digitizer are clean. Use a dry lens clothe to clean any smudges or fingerprints.

- Get double-sided tape: http://www.amazon.com/Tesa-Double-sided-...

- Apply the double tape to the aluminum frame (cut it to fit, of course).

- When re-gluing the digitizer, first fit in place the right-side of the digitizer and iPad, opposite of where the digitizer cable is located. Then gradually move to the left side, while using a spudger or plastic opening tool to carefully push the digitizer flat cable in the pre-cut "hole/gap," gradually as you "close" the iPad. The idea is to keep the flat cable from getting caught and sandwiched between the frame and and the digitizer glass.

If you do it properly, the flat cable will not be compressed right underneath the glass, causing it to pop out of place, and most important will avoid damage to the flat cable itself.

We you are closing the iPad use. Plastic spudger to push the excess cable back down in the gap better the LCD and the iPad housing. The entire cable will dop down in there and lie perfectly flat. I use black 8mm tape on the right side top and bottom and 5mm on the left side. I also clamp the screen down with 1" clamps on all sides and apply heat to the screen to activate the adhesive. After letting sit for an hour or so it will have cooled down and will be stuck.

Im sure, i fold the flex cable properly. like the original/broken one. the flexcable is under the housing and LCD. i know, i can not fold it like a factory ipad but someway it should be possible.

The adhesive needs pressure to activate. Clean the contacting surface to remove oil that degrade the adhesive, make sure everything does sit flush then put the iPad face down and put some heavy books on it for a few minutes. Yellow pages may work

That's the point! i fold the flex cable a little bit. Now, i try it without folding the cable. Thank you very much. the detailed introduction is very helpful.

the flex cables come with a glue and apparently want to be folded flat against the digitizer. that never sticks properly so this time I am trying some b-7000 glue to lay those flat against the digitizer. I am hoping this will not cause the typical digitizer lift problem from those cables. I am also considering carefully scuffing the glue to surface on the case. My thinking is that the anodizing creates a less than optimal surface to glue to. Anyone with other thoughts or comments, concerns please jump in as I will soon be trying the above. Gen 6 iPad.

All apple devices are a tight fit, maybe you did not fold the flex cable properly and it is pushing the panel up

Would heating the adhesive help as well as pressure or just the pressure its enough? I only really have problems with customers coming back saying its lifting when i use the crap stuff that comes on the aftermarket screens.. I dont have to much problems with my 3m tape i use but it is quite easy to remove again nothing close to the stuff on originals.
