Will the A1278 mid 2010 take an older logic board or only this year?
It started when I went to change out the screen. I tested the unit and it powered and booted to the desktop prior to dis assembly. Once we put it back together with the new parts it did not power on or show a charge light. I take laptops apart all day but have no idea how this happened
Is there something im missing?

As you didn't give us much to work with here to ID what you are working with. I looked up the mid '10 A1278 models here are the two that can interchange the logic bds without difficulty: MacBookPro5,5. Beyond this you will need to offer more detail of the replacement logic board.
Apple has changed the driver logic on the displays a few times so you can't just assume the board will work with the newer display.

iti s an EMC 2351 LMK what other into is needed. I'm really apprehensive.

Best to stay within model years if at all possible. An older board may not connect or power your current display.

It sounds as if the reassembly of the DC board went wrong.
Taking an older (or younger) logic board needs to replace several other things, like cables or e.g. the display cover which is different sometimes (got one, which has different mountings for the cards in it), the shape of the logic board itself (think of the ones with one fan and the others with two).

Can you supply the last three digits of your systems serial number to we can correctly ID the system you are trying to put the logic bd into and also give us the specs of the one your trying to put in.
