I can not upgrade the stock 250 Gig drive
Hi
I have tried to upgrade my stock 250 GB drive to a WD or Seagate 500 GB sata 3 Gigabit drive at 5400rpm or 7200rpm rotation speed. If and when I get Mac OS installed on new drives when it boots and I try to transfer file to the drive I get the spinning beachball of death. It just locks up or it says that the copy time for a 10-15 meg file is hours. Talked to Apple tech support said nothing they can do for me. That I should have gotten larger drive at the time of purchase. Talked to tech support of WD and Toshiba (vendor for the stock drive) said I should get a sata 1.5 Gigabit drive but noone sells a 500 GB drive with these spec to the public. Any solutions will be a help. I am really really *#&&!& at the lac of Apple support for this issue.

Drag and drop, from one drive to another

I have already cloned the drive. That is not the problem. It is when I install this new drive in the laptop it that I get the above issues. Copying data of any kind to or from new internal drive. Check out this thread http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa... I was thinking that if I replaced the MacBook Pro 15" Unibody (Mid 2009) Hard Drive Cable that this will fix the problem.
