1.After using "shut down", have to turn power off/on at the wall before machine will start from button at rear of screen.
2. Randomly switches off completely from sleep mode and then require process above.

This machine should still be under warranty and the first thing I would do is take it in. The second thing would be to take out AppleCare to extend your warranty for another two years.
