J A, here is a pretty good explanation on how manufacturers mark their IC's. Personally I make use of this site and this one as well. Also, it helps to learn about the package of the IC's, which will help as well. I find most of the IC's I am interested in through this, but nothing beats the right schematic. Thanks for the response. I was hoping for a tool that you could just type the part markings in to. I knew it was a long shot.

Polarised lens or glasses work for viewing - a polarised light source works with regular sight aids.
