The front driver side brake on my 2001 Protege is making a loud creaking sound when I come to a slow stop. Also it does some sort of slight rocking motion like something is bent or warped.

Hi Murdoc.
It seems that your brake pad(s) need to be replaced. See this posting.
I would check how much is left of the pads (thickness) and would also check with a car mechanic.
